Celebrating a Meaningful Honor: Non-Profit of the Year
What a wonderful and beautiful surprise it was to receive the Non-Profit of the Year Award at the Annual Social & Awards Banquet Honoring Small Business Super Heroes & Shining Stars on March 12, 2026. We are truly grateful, honored, and incredibly thankful to be recognized in this way. This award is more than a moment of celebration. It reflects the heart of the work we are privileged to do every day in our community.
As shared in the nomination speech, “some organizations measure success by numbers. Others measure success by the lives they touch, the opportunities they create, and the legacy they preserve.” That belief is at the core of everything we do at the Tri-City Empowerment Council.
Each of our events is rooted in care for our community. For many, these moments are more than events; they are reminders that they are seen, supported, and believed in. And our work will continue to grow.
Earlier this year, we broke ground on Phase One of the renovation of the historic Daule School Building, an effort that represents both preservation and progress. As highlighted in the nomination, “this project is about far more than bricks and mortar. It is about honoring a legacy… while providing modern resources that equip young people with the tools they need to succeed.”
That vision of honoring the past while building the future guides us forward. Through partnerships and year-round programming, we remain committed to creating opportunities for education, personal growth, and empowerment across DeWitt County. Or, as beautifully stated in the nomination, “they are not only preserving history—they are building the future.”
We share this recognition with every volunteer, partner, supporter, and family who is part of this journey. This award belongs to all of you. Thank you for believing in the work and walking alongside us.
And a very special thank you to Samantha Solis for your wonderful and beautifully worded nomination!
